Periods of heavy rain, northwesterly gales and significant snow for parts of the South Island.

An active front, preceded by a strong to gale northwesterly flow, is expected to move onto the South Island Sunday evening and move northeastwards over the Island during Monday.

This Watch is for the possibility of rain accumulations approaching warning criteria for southern Fiordland, and the possibility that northwesterly winds may become severe in exposed parts of

  • Southland
  • Otago
  • Canterbury High Country.

In addition, the Watch covers the possibility that snow accumulations may approach warning amounts above 500 metres in Fiordland, Southland and Otago.
