Gale west to northwest winds for central and southern New Zealand

Severe gale west to northwest winds are expected in exposed parts of central and southern New Zealand, where Strong Wind Warnings and Watches are in force.
Strong Wind Warning
Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
Area: Southern coast of Fiordland, Stewart Island, Southland and Otago

Forecast: West to northwesterly gales are forecast to become severe in exposed places at times, with gusts reaching 120 km/h.
