There are still no arrests over the shooting of two teenagers in Invercargill a month on.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were seriously injured during the shooting in Centre Street in the suburb of Heidelberg early on 31 January.
In a statement, Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Baird said the victims remain in hospital, though they are improving.
Police are investigating whether it is gang-related.
Baird said inquiries are now focused on what occurred in the days leading up to the shooting as well as what followed.
He said officers are committed to holding those responsible to account.
