Sean Withy will captain the SBS Bank Southland Stags when they face Canterbury in Christchurch this Saturday, with Denzel Samoa named on the bench in a potential provincial debut.

Kick-off at One New Zealand Stadium is 5.05pm on Saturday September 26.

Withy starts at blindside flanker in a settled-looking forward pack. Jack Sexton, Jayden Henderson and Sef Fa'agase make up the front row, with Mitchell Dunshea and Alefosio Aho locking the scrum. Gregor Rutledge is at openside, with Semisi Tupou Ta'eiloa at number eight.

Nic Shearer and Mika Muliaina direct traffic from halfback and first-five. The midfield pairs Tayne Harvey and Wil Gualter, with Glen Vaihu, Michael Manson and Jimmy Taylor completing the back three.

Samoa — the name to watch — is listed at number 23, the last of eight replacements that also include Shaun Kempton, Jack Barrett, Darius Fidow, Sam Fischli, Konrad Toleafoa, Jackson Hughan and Fletcher Morgan.

Five players are unavailable for selection: Scott Gregory, Hunter Fahey, Caleb Karangaroa, Jack Taylor and Woody Kirkwood, along with Paula Latu.
