“Splash Palace is changing its weekend opening hours from the end of May,” announced Invercargill City Council Manager Aquatic Services Stephen Cook. “From the weekend of 27 May, the pool will be open from 8am to 6pm at weekends,” he continued, highlighting the change from the current opening hours of “6am to 8pm on Saturdays and 8am to 8pm on Sundays.”
Cook emphasized that the alteration in hours would have “minimal impact on customers and clubs” and would better align with the current pool usage. “The pools are generally very quiet during the times we are proposing to be closed,” he stated. “Our first priority is our customers, and we look forward to seeing our early birds and night owls at slightly different times.”
Acknowledging the positive reception of the facility upgrades by the public, Cook emphasized that opening hours were not set in stone. He assured that if there was a need to re-extend the pool’s hours in the future, it would be considered. “Splash Palace belongs to the community, and we’ll always reflect that in the way we operate,” he added.
While the weekday opening hours of Splash Palace, Monday to Friday from 5.30am to 9pm, remain unchanged, the new weekend opening hours will be implemented starting from Saturday, May 27, according to Cook.
