Multiple world speed record holder and media personality Guy Martin is to be the guest of honour at this year’s Burt Munro Challenge.

Martin has a distinguished racing career that has seen him secure numerous titles and records including 15 podium finishes in the prestigious Isle of Man TT events since his debut in 2004.

The self-confessed speed demon currently holds the world record for the fastest speed on a gravity powered snow sled 134.4km/h, fastest speed in a soapbox 137.8km/h, highest speed on a wall of death 215.77km/h and the record for the world’s fastest hovercraft 121km/h.

Martin is not here just to spectate, he brings with him his 320hp Turbo GSX – R1100 for the Bluff Hill Climb and Southland Honda are providing him with a Honda CRF 450 for beach racing.

Guy Martin’s impending visit also combines with the exciting news that Classic Motorcycle Mecca will be opening on 23 November 2016. The cities latest attraction is widely regarded to be a world class display and includes solo, sidecar and even three wheeled automobiles and machinery from 1902 upwards. Over 60 manufacturers are represented throughout the collection.

‘A Night with Guy Martin & the Boys’ is also planned on the evening of 23 November at Bill Richardson Transport World.
