Five of Southland’s young digital leaders have been selected to attend the SingularityU New Zealand Summit in Christchurch 12 – 14 November.

The SingularityU NZ Summit brings the world’s top speakers and experts on exponentially accelerating technologies together with New Zealands and Australias leaders of today and tomorrow, giving us the knowledge and insight we need to compete — and win — in an exponentially changing world.

The prize-winners receive flights, accommodation, their ticket to the event, and will be hosted during their time at the conference by technology company Computer Concepts Limited (CCL).

The prize-winners are:

  • Nik Bielski, studying at Southern Insitute of Technology and intern at Digital Stock Limited.
  • Simon Owen, studying at Southern Institute of Technology and employed by Stabicraft Limited.
  • Sean O’Connor, employed by Powernet
  • Wayne Lemin, employed by HWR Group Ltd
  • Travis Hubber, employed by Southern Institute of Technology

Venture Southland Group Manager Business and Strategic Projects Steve Canny says, “Congratulations to these young Southland technologists who will benefit from hearing from some of the world’s top speakers and experts on exponentially accelerating technologies. They will gain an insight into what is required to compete and adapt successfully to an exponentially changing world”.

CCL Southland branch manager, Karen Rabbitt, said the calibre of applicants for the competition was encouraging,

“There are a lot of talented young leaders in Southland, and we are thrilled to host this group to the SingularityU.

We hope that the summit will inspire them, and they will bring back some great insights for the benefit of their workplace, and the tech sector in Southland.”

SingularityU New Zealand ambassador, Kaila Colbin, will be guest speaker at an event to be held in Invercargill on 6th December. The SingularityU winners will also speak about their experience at the summit. Business managers and professionals who would like to attend this event should request an invite from Rhiannon Suter, Business Projects Coordinator, Venture Southland (rhiannon@venturesouthland, 03 211 1404).
