MLT Presidents Pennants

Invercargill A are the 2019 MLT Presidents Pennants Champions, after an exciting weekend of semi-finals and finals played at Gore.

The team, which included Matt Tautari, Tyler McLean, Craig O’Rorke and Liam Hewitt came through a tough semi-final against Gore tied 2-all. Forced into a three hole play-off between the teams’ top players, Tautari defeated Gore’s Scott Hellier on the second play-off hole to earn his team a spot in the final.

In the other semi-final Invercargill B defeated Winton B 3-1, to ensure an all-Invercargill final.

Invercargill A won the final and the title with a 3-1 victory, with Tautari and McLean winning their matches and O’Rorke and Hewitt squaring theirs.

Gore defeated Winton 4-0 to take third place.

Southland Teams to Face Otago

Southland’s senior and junior men’s representative teams will tee off against Otago at SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club this weekend.

The 10-man Southland senior team includes Matt Tautari, Liam Hewitt, Tyler McLean, Leith Campion, Josh Kalweit, Brad Harper, Jason Osbourne, Bryan Cantley, Simon Boland and Doug Carmichael (Mark Horgan is reserve), and the four-strong junior team will include Zac Fowle, George Prendergast, Josh Cooper and Connor Fowle.

NZ Home Links Competition

The national results from the New Zealand Home Links competition are in.

Robyn Boniface (Queens Park) placed third in the Best Gross Cup and Tina Mann (Riversdale) was third in the Aotearoa Cup.

Home links competitions were played regionally throughout the country with local results submitted to New Zealand Golf who determined the overall national results.

News from Greenacres

Greenacres Country Golf Club is getting set to celebrate its 50th anniversary on from March 20 to 22 next year, and is reminding all those interested that registrations are available from the club, or by visiting www.greenacrescountry.org.nz. Registrations close November 30.

The club is also preparing to tee off its twilight golf on October 15. Some time slots remain available, so anyone interested should contact Lenore on 03 217 7805.
