Two inspiring Southland women have joined together to offer a ‘Spring Into Wellbeing Expo’ for the community to thrive after a tumultuous few years.
Katie Oliver and Kate Watkinson have brought together many natural health practitioners to offer their expertise, products and services at the Expo on November 19.
Held at the Wallacetown Community Centre, the Expo provides a platform for a range of holistic experts to offer their wisdom on the different modalities of healing.
Incorporating the four cornerstones of health through the Te Whare Tapa Whā model, the Expo will feature yoga, massage, nutrition and other therapies.
There will also be stallholders selling their wares, and there is still room for more people to get involved.
“It was just something that had to be birthed,” Katie said.
A mother of five active boys, birthing and parenting advice is also what Kate offers to families, through her business naturalbeginningsbirthing.com
She has explored many different natural therapies herself, and through these has been able to heal her own whanau.
Kate specialises in women’s wellbeing and offers yoga and qoya classes as well as soulful meditation through her Thrive in Light business thriveinlight.co.nz
The Expo will offer a mixture of free and ticketed events such as fermenting food, as well as half hour ‘tasters’ incorporating movement and nutrition.
“It’s important that we are proactive about celebrating our health,” Kate said.
Flowing on from the Expo, the pair have dreams of growing wellbeing in the community, and like everything it all starts from one small seed of an idea and grows.
