Hospice Southland is set to benefit financially after a Charity Auction held on Saturday night at the Ascot Park Hotel in Invercargill raised $43,000 for the organisation.
The Charity Auction was presented by well-known Invercargill retailer E Hayes and Sons to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Burt Munro’s famous world speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats on August 26th 1967.
Managing Director of E Hayes and Sons, Mr Neville Hayes was very pleased with the outcome of the Auction.
“We were determined to mark this very special event in Southland’s history, by doing something worthwhile for the Community “ he said.
“Since announcing the event, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of suppliers and businesses who have got behind us and donated goods and services for us to auction”
Over three hundred and fifty people attended the event which auctioned a wide range of items, culminating in the sale of a brand new, customised 2017 Indian Scout Motorcycle.
“We reckon Burt would be very proud” said Neville.
