This poll we asked which existing Invercargill City Councillors (who are not standing for mayor) will you be re-electing to the council table.

Again in this poll just like the Mayoral snap poll Rebecca Amundsen isn’t getting any cut through, second last just ahead of Lesley Soper. You would think with Bec’s on the mayoral list as well that she would be performing a lot better.

Some would say Rebecca’s stance on not joining the Three Waters break away group of 31 councils is taking its toll, but Marcus Lush, Darren Ludlow and Alex Crackett polled a lot better. Maybe people aren’t sold on Bec’s ‘Leading the change’ campaign.

In my opinion ratepayers should be concerned about Marcus Lush polling so well as he has no understanding of the real world. At a recent council meeting to vote on joining the break away group, he ranted on how the city’s water infrastructure is a liability not an asset!

Since winning last years by election thanks to Toni Biddle throwing in the towel (costing ratepayers $80k) Lush has been no benefit being on the council table. Just watch him on the live streams, never paying attention, on his phone constantly (several councillors have alleged he surfs the web looking for relevant topics for his evening radio show).

The days are over for our council to be a life raft for washed up radio celebrities as their radio career winds down.

Nominations close this Friday 12th August mid day.
