The Australian Diamonds and the Silver Ferns are set to go head-to-head in the highly anticipated Cadbury Netball Series for the Constellation Cup. Netball New Zealand (NNZ) has announced that the series will consist of two Tests in Australia and two in New Zealand.
Excitement is already building, as this year’s series will see the two teams play in both Australia and New Zealand. NNZ Chief Executive, Jennie Wyllie, expressed her excitement about the upcoming matches and said that all eyes are currently on Cape Town in South Africa for July’s Netball World Cup. However, the Silver Ferns’ sole focus is on defending their title in the Constellation Cup.
The first leg of the Constellation Cup will take place in Australia with Tests to be held in Melbourne and Brisbane. The third test will be held in Invercargill’s ILT Stadium Southland on the 19th of October. The final test will be held on the 23rd of October at Spark Arena in Auckland.
The Silver Ferns last faced the Australian Diamonds at the Netball Quad Series in South Africa in January, where they suffered a narrow six-goal loss in a highly contested final. Australia currently holds the Constellation Cup after a drawn series (2-2) last year.
