UPDATE:9:22pm
Police are responding to an incident on Brown Street in Strathern, Invercargill, where a man has been located with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police were called to the incident about 7:40pm.
The man is receiving treatment in Southland Hospital.
A spokesperson for St John confirmed to What’s on Invers that somebody in a critical condition was taken by ambulance to Kew Hospital, Invercargill at about 7:40pm
The Armed Offenders Squad is responding and cordons are in place.
Police are making enquiries into the circumstances of the incident.
Residents should expect a continued Police presence in the area this evening.

There have been reports of a Shooting in the Brown Street area and a cordon is in place Christina and Lothian Crescent.
Police are responding to a report of a breach of the peace in Strathern, Invercargill about 7:40pm. On arrival emergency services located a person who was seriously injured.
That person has been transported to hospital. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
