Severe gale westerly for coastal Clutha, Southland including Stewart Island.

A disturbed west to southwesterly flow covers central and southern New Zealand. A couple of fronts embedded in this flow move northeast over New Zealand overnight Wednesday and on Thursday, with a period of severe westerly gales likely in the far south of the South Island where strong wind Warnings are in force.
