Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
Area: Southland, Clutha and Stewart Island
Valid: 8 hours from 6:00am to 2:00pm Sunday
Forecast: Severe gale northwesterlies, gusting 120 km/h. Winds are expected to turn westerly in the afternoon and ease slightly.
Area: Dunedin and Otago apart from Clutha and North Otago
Valid: 7 hours from 7:00am to 2:00pm Sunday
Forecast: Gale northwesterlies may become severe in exposed places. Winds are expected to turn westerly and ease Sunday afternoon.
