Thursday later afternoon Invercargill Police were called to a serious motor vehicle crash on Darly Street, Wallacetown.
The two vehicles involved were a Scania heavy truck and a Suzuki Vitara SUV.
At the time of the crash the truck had been travelling east on Darly Street, Wallacetown which is a 70km/h zone, the Suzuki had driven out from a service station onto the roadway.
The truck hit head on into the right handside of the Suzuki causing serious damage to the Suzuki, with the truck sustaining minor damage.
The three occupants of the Suzuki aged 16, 20 and 52 years old who live in the Waianiwa area were taken to Southland Hospital.
The female aged 52 years who had been seated in the front left passengers seat of the Suzuki was later transported to Dunedin Hospital with head injuries.
The 38 year old male truck driver who resides locally did not sustain any injuires as the result of the crash.
The Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit and Serious Crash Unit will attend the scene today for further examination of the scene and vehicles.
Police are continuing enquires into the cause of the crash.
