Some sad news to round off the weekend from the entertainment world.
Sir Thomas Sean Connery, the Scottish actor who transformed the James Bond franchise died over the weekend aged 90.
The actor from Fountainbridge, Edinburgh was the first actor to play Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films between 1962 and 1983.
Playing Bond was not the only string to Connery’s bow, he starred in many movies over the years including A Bridge Too Far and The Hunt For The Red October and the Indiana Jones movies.
His achievements in film have been recognized with an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (including a Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes.
After leaving the Royal Navy Sean Connery took on a variety of jobs to earn a crust including life guard at the swimming baths, truck driver, even a coffin polisher.
RIP Sean Connery.
