Russell Square in Invercargill has recently become more lively with the installation of the Tunatuna portable pump track. This new addition to the city’s outdoor spaces has quickly turned into a popular spot for residents of all ages seeking fun and active experiences.
Coordinated by Laura Dowling from Healthy Families Invercargill and supported by the Invercargill City Council, among other partners, the track is part of a broader initiative to activate regional spaces in Southland. It’s not just a playground; it’s a place where people can improve their riding skills in a safe environment.
After successful stints in Bluff and Nightcaps, the 57-meter long track will reside at Russell Square for approximately three months before moving to its next location in Wyndham. Open to everyone, the track is a testament to the community’s commitment to fostering active lifestyles and bringing people together.
With the backing of local biking and sporting clubs, Tunatuna is more than just a pump track—it’s a symbol of community spirit and active recreation in Invercargill.
