Study Southland is gearing up to crouch, bind and set with international students at the upcoming Rugby Give it a Go day.

The International Students Rugby Give it a Go Day will be held Saturday, 5 May between 9:00m – 1:00pm at Rugby Park.

The event is part of the International student wellbeing strategy led by the Ministry of Education.

No experience is required to take part so Venture Southland international education manager, Joice Dondalski is encouraging international students to get involved.

“Rugby is an iconic New Zealand sport, so this day is about giving international students a taste of kiwi culture,” she said.

Dondalski has organised the day with the support of Rugby Southland to help international students connect with other students.

“Sport is something that brings Southlanders together so this is a chance for international students to be part of this,” Dondalski said.

The event is free but limited to 20 secondary school students and 20 tertiary level students so pre-registering online is required.

Study Southland received funding from the Ministry of Education to deliver this event.

Study Southland represents education providers in the Southland region and manages the international education programme.
