Rugby Southland General Manager, Andrew Moreton, has resigned and will be leaving the organisation at the end of February 2018.

Moreton joined Rugby Southland in mid-2015.

Rugby Southland Board Chair Jason Franklin said today “Andrew has led the organisation well since he joined in mid-2015.  He joined the business at a challenging time and has managed to make significant changes.  Andrew has put in place improved systems and has got Rugby Southland to a position where is it very well positioned for the future.  Since joining, Andrew has also developed a very capable staff and management team for Rugby Southland”

Moreton said “With a new year upon us and a new Stags Head Coach now in place, I feel it is the right time for me to move on to other opportunities and allow someone else to lead the organisation.  It has been a privilege to work for Rugby Southland”

“I cannot understate the dedication of my staff to deliver rugby across the province and the hundreds of volunteers that help keep the game strong in Southland.”

“It has been particularly exciting to see the growth of the female game, and the further increase in our coaching numbers, as well as the young local talent coming up through the grades to play at representative level.

“I am extremely appreciative of the longstanding support of our loyal fans, sponsors and funders because without your support our rugby model across

all levels would simply fail to operate.”

Jason Franklin confirmed that recruitment is now underway for Moreton’s replacement.
