Police are investigating a robbery at the Night & Day food store on Dee Street, Invercargill. At around 3:30 am, two people entered the store where they threatened the employees and stole items. According to a Police spokesperson, “The victim did not need medical attention at the time. However, they have been offered support through Victim Support services.”
The alleged offenders left the premises in a vehicle, which was signalled to stop by a Police unit a short distance away along Dee Street. “The driver refused to stop and fled, however a pursuit was not initiated due to the manner of driving,” the Police spokesperson said.
The vehicle was located by Police a short time later after it crashed at the intersection of Tay and Clyde Streets. However, the occupants were not found, and inquiries are ongoing to locate them.
