Updated: 3pm Invercargill Fire Service have confirmed that the risk of an ammonia leak has been contained and expect things to business as usual very soon.
Six appliances were called to the South Port at 11.30pm to find a large warehouse well ablaze.

He said the fire appeared to have started in a freezer section of the warehouse but the cause was unknown.
The Fire Service is continuing to attempt to control an ammonia leak on the wharf at Bluff.
Fire and port authorities are working together to assess the situation.
The leak is small at the moment, but it could grow and become serious.
People should avoid the port area and stay inside until the situation is dealt with.
The leak follows a fire at a cool store on the wharf last night.
That’s now out.
