Invercargill’s popular Homestead complex will swing open its doors once again tomorrow, (Thursday 12th December) marking the completion of an extensive refurbishment.
The revamp of both The Homestead Restaurant and The Ave adds a dynamic new hospitality option to the city’s repertoire.
ILT chairman Alan Dennis said the multi-million project had injected new life into the establishment.
“We’re really excited for our customers to see the transformation which has taken place over the past six months,” he said.
“As a board, we remain committed to reinvesting in our commercial portfolio and it’s great to see another successful initiative completed.”
ILT chief executive Chris Ramsay said it was the biggest redevelopment the ILT had completed since The Waikiwi Tavern and Foundry Restaurant opened in November 2016.
The existing Homestead building had been extended to incorporate an “indoor/outdoor room” which connected well to the spruced-up Ave bar area.
“The result is a completely flexible space which can be fully opened, including the roof, on the hot summer days ahead,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to open in time for the holiday season and our thanks to McCulloch Architects and Barry Stewart Builders for their excellent work delivering on a tight schedule.”
While the aim was to add a new family dining option for the city, the complex featured a variety of options to satisfy differing markets.
“Staff and their families have had a sneak preview and, if the reaction of the children is anything to go by, the new indoor play area will be a real hit,” he said.
“And yes, we’re catering for families but we also ensured the design incorporated a number of other spaces to provide a dining experience all ages can enjoy.”
The Homestead’s vibrant new menu features a ‘smokehouse’ section, along with traditional fare favourites.
