This past week has been all about process and processes.
First and foremost top marks, congratulations to everyone involved in getting this years Burt Munro Challenge together.
And this was the tenth anniversary edition, where have the years gone?
Sadly I wasn’t able to keep close tabs on “The Burt” but all the processes and procedures appear to have been followed and another outstanding event looks to have been held.

In my other life in retail, I was lucky enough to meet a few ” Burters”, they all seem to have enjoyed the southern experience and its attracted visitors from far and wide.

OMG is this Santa taking time out in Invers for the Burt Munro Challenge after a busy Southland Santa Parade last…

One of the beauties of The Burt Munro Challenge is that there is nothing is like it anywhere else and it couldn’t really be replicated anywhere else. The Burt is ours!

What about the story in Saturday’s Southland Times “Council Underwrites Highlanders Up to $500k”. A $500K guarantee on the Highlanders franchise in exchange for a game at Invers rugby HQ for the next 5 Super Rugby seasons.
In the article ICC director of finance and corporate Dean Johnston said the guarantee would only be provided if the franchise needed extra funding.
So far the deal means that Super Rugby will be back at Rugby Park Stadium next year with the Highlanders hosting (and walloping) the ACT Brumbies. Is this a bad thing?
But as for the on-going Christmas decorations fiasco. This is where it looks like process and processes look to have been thrown out the window.

A quick read of the article in Saturday’s Southland Times indicates that no one knows exactly when the deco’s will leave China and arrive on these shores.
Mr Johnston says they should likely arrive “not to far away from the end of November”. As I write this, there is sod all time left til the end of November.
The process and processes seem to be well short of acceptable here.
And then there was the fallout from the Fireworks and Music Extravaganza. The process and processes here need a thorough going over.
The Goddess of the kitchen is coming. Yes congrats to Nigel Skelt and his team in pulling off a coup in attracting Nigella Lawson to Stadium Southland for a swanky do in the new year. My feeling is that some in other centres had a case of “Invers, how did they get this gig?
Top marks to the Burger Fuel team for having confidence in Invers and setting up shop here. Best of luck and we all look forward to sampling their fine products in short order. >>Read More>>
I had made a note to self late last week to attend to this flag referendum business. The envelope sits unopened on the table. The process just doesn’t excite me and the choices on offer don’t spin my wheels. The reasoning for change for me falls short of the mark. For the PM to bring the death of Jona Lomu into the debate by way of the tribute published in an Irish newspaper at best desperate, at worst……..
The envelope still sits on the table.
And on Friday it was announced the race track at Ascot Park Racecourse won’t be up to a safe standard in time for Christmas at the races. Plans have been made for the actual horse racing to be at Winton and extra big tv screens will be placed at Ascot Park Racecourse. >>Read More>> Phantom Horses to race at Christmas races.
I don’t know what it is but every time I see it I wonder how can this be?
That is seeing the contrails of a huge aircraft going from one far off land to another, The contrails of flight QF27, flying across the ocean blue from Sydney to Santiago, and flying way up high and right over Invers. Process and processes being followed to the letter to make that happen.
Whatever you do this week, fly high !
Cheers
Mal
PS Did you get your Christmas tree and decorations up over the weekend?
