Hi folks, yes its been another stellar weekend in and around Invers.

The ILT Stadium Southland precinct was certainly the place to be with the Southland Multi Cultural Food Festival attracting big numbers to sample delicious and exotic food from far off lands .

The only question we have is where can get some of this food on any other day? I mean there was food from Africa, Sri Lanka and many other exotic places that looked and smelt delicious.

But where can we get these goodies on any other day or do we have to consult Auntie Google for some easy recipes?

Next door at the ILT Velodrome the New Zealand Marching Champs were being held. They to drew the crowds especially to the finals Saturday. Congratulations to everyone who rolled their sleeves up and brought this event to Invers.

Top marks to everyone in involved in organising the hugely popular motor sport events over the weekend. These are always hugely popular. Also check out the blast from the past back in 1994 when Invercargill last hosted the National Marching Championships.

While our home of cycling was busy with the marching our Southland cyclists were competing in Cambridge, Well done to the up and coming next generation of Southlands next cycling superstars.

Speaking of Motor Sport, it’s good to see Inky Tulloch is back up and about after a nasty crash at Teretonga Park early last year. While he is not yet behind the wheel, he’s at least on the sidelines.

Last week was a very sobering week to with Mike King hosting his Community Korero events at several schools during the days and some public events in the evenings in Invers and Bluff.

Youth suicide is a real issue judging by the turn out at the Ascot Park Hotel. We no doubt know or know of people, friends, neighbours where this has hit and hit hard.

Does Mike King have all the answers? Maybe, Maybe not but he is certainly worth listening to and he makes himself available to talk to anyone who is struggling with this.

And as for that terrible assault on the chap outside the dairy at South City a week or so ago. Good work Invers Police on apprehending all involved. However we can’t let this sort of behaviour by anyone continue, especially in broad daylight by a busy road. If you come across anything like this, call the Police straight away.

And the other big sport event over the weekend was the Steampunk Splendid Teapot Racing at Queens Park on Sunday.

Hey it’s going to be another crackingly busy week so have a good one and everyone going to experience Adele in Auckland, have a great trip. Mal.
