The man who without question did the most to transform Invers in recent years has passed on.

Ray Harper QSM, QSO died at the end of last week blowing full time on a decades long career of running his own highly successful building business and of service to the wider community.

Ray’s contribution to sport locally and nationally are well documented.

What some may not realize, especially those growing up and those who are recent arrivals is that Ray Harper’s wise counsel have seen many city facilities become the magnets that they have become now.

Stadium Southland Mk1 and the Mk2 version would not have become the envy of other centres without Ray’s wisdom and vision.

It’s fair to say that few if any are in the same league when it comes to being in business and providing tireless service to the community he lived in.

Rest In Peace Ray Harper, your work is done.
