The team at Malloch McClean are feeling pleased with themselves at the moment, as management has extended their 4.5 day working week until the end of March.

The new initiative started at the beginning of December, and staff were only working until 12:30pm on Fridays in the lead up to Christmas, but it has been so successful they have kept it going.

As part of its ‘family first’ value and in the interest of attracting and retaining quality staff to best serve clients, the company introduced the shortened work week as a trial.

Since the beginning, management has seen a lot of positive changes and are excited to announce that the new hours have been further extended until March 31.

“We are excited to continue supporting our team to work smarter, not longer—and provide opportunities for life to happen outside of the office,” chief executive Blair Evans said.

Malloch McClean seeks to deliver productivity, continually meet its own high customer service standards, and strives for personal and team business goals and objectives.

The company believes that with the help of technology, tools and good planning, they can continue to provide the same high level of support to their wonderful client base, while also supporting team members in their work/life balance.

Research has shown that teams working 4.5-day weeks are happier, more engaged, and more productive.

“Making businesses better is what we do; this is one way we’re doing it in our own organisation.  Offering flexibility, respect, and appreciation to our employees ensures that we get and keep the very best ones. And when we have the best people, our clients get the best service.”

Blair said during the extension period they will be reviewing team and client feedback, “as we can incorporate this into our working week.”

One of the key factors for the success of any business is both attracting and retaining people great people, he said.

“The accounting profession like many others industries is always looking for more team members, so it’s important we make our own environment more appealing and this is just one aspect we can look to improve, along with competitive salaries, coaching and training and having a great team culture.”
