The Pork Pie Mini and it progeny are alive and well and making their way down South.
Invoking the spirit of the Goodbye Pork Pie movies and adding the passion for cars and friendship, the charity run idea was conceived in 2007 and planning started to launch in 2009 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the mini production, by Murray and Annie Hemsley, along with help from Rod Harris.

The trip follows the route in the movie from Kaitaia to Bluff a total of 2,500km.
Ten years later and the 60th anniversary of the mini, this is the 6th Pork Pie run.

And there’s often love in the air – a baby was made while a couple were on their honeymoon and another got engaged at the Trooper memorial at the Dee and Tay Street roundabout.

Registrations for the 2019 run went live online at Easter 2018 and the entry limit of sixty was booked in 7 minutes, and the wait list was capped at 20.

The dedication of the participants is on full display throughout the event – one car blew a con rod threw the block, so they went and bought a brand new Mini.
