Invercargill Police name man who died following a Tramway Road fire “
Invercargill Police can now confirm the name of the man who died following a Tramway Road fire on the morning of Wednesday 2 November 2016.
He was 51-year-old Alan Patrick Pirus Sarginson, a local Riverton man.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation however Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
Police’s thoughts are with the man’s friends and family at this time.

Emergency services were called by members of the public to a fatal fire in Invercargill at approximately 1:10am this morning.
A flat on Tramway Road was engulfed when Police and Fire Services arrived but the resident was unharmed.
A man, believed to be known to the occupant but not a resident there, was located deceased in the building a short time later.
Fire safety officers and Invercargill CIB commenced a scene examination today.
Police are not in a position to confirm the man’s identity until a post-mortem is complete, however are speaking to likely next of kin.
While the investigation is underway, Police are not in a position to comment further.
