Police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the vicinity of Hokonui Drive in Gore last night.
Local staff, assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad, conducted a search of a residential property and seized a number of items of interest.
Two people were reported to have received minor injuries that were not related to a firearm.
No arrests have been made at this time.
We appreciate this incident was unsettling for residents in the area and we are making further enquiries to understand the circumstances, Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said.
