Police Name Man Who Drowned in Clutha River

On Tuesday 21st April at approximately 2.30pm, a body was discovered in the Clutha River, Otanomomo, by a member of the public. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

A scene examination took place and after formal identification, Police have released the man’s name. He was Reece Wereta, 33.

Enquiries are ongoing however Police are not treating his death as suspicious, and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.

Police continue to support his family at this difficult time.
