Te Anau Police are investigating two burglaries which occurred over the weekend in which firearms were taken.
Between midnight and 5am on Sunday 6 May a ute parked at a property on Melland Place was broken into.
A shotgun and high powered rifle were taken from the vehicle, as well as other items.
Between 4:30pm on Saturday 5 May and 6pm on Sunday 6 May, a home on Dale Road was broken into.
Five firearms were taken from a locked firearms safe as well as other items.
Police have carried out forensic examinations on the ute and at the Dale Road property, Sergeant Tod Hollebon, Te Anau Police said.
We are extremely concerned about these firearms getting into the hands of criminals and are investigating both burglaries thoroughly.
We are appealing to members of the public for any information they may have in relation to the incidents.
