Police can now release the name of the man who died in the crash in Wallacetown yesterday.

He was 56-year-old Donald Stanley Hammond from Invercargill.

Police’s investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Police’s thoughts are with Mr Hammond’s family and friends at this time.

9:30pm Mon 24th October Police UPDATE – Wallacetown crash

State Highway 99 and Underwood-Linds Bridge Road have reopened after a crash this afternoon.

Police were called to a crash between a car and a motorcycle this afternoon at approximately 3pm.

A 56-year-old man died at the scene.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The serious crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash and the matter will be referred to the Coroner.

Police are attending a fatal crash on State Highway 99, near Wallacetown, involving a car and motorcycle, one person has died at the scene.

Police and emergency services are on the scene as is the serious crash unit.

The cause of the crash is being investigated and Police are in the process of notifying next of kin.

State Highway 99 is closed at Wallacetown and Steel Road and Underwood-Linds Bridge Road is also partially closed.
