Southland Police have successfully seized a significant amount of cannabis and cash, arresting seven individuals as part of a targeted operation in the region.
“Police located 150 ounces of cannabis, seized $25,000 and arrested seven people in Southland yesterday,” stated Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Baird.
The operation, conducted by the Southern District Organised Crime Group with support from various Police units, saw simultaneous search warrants executed in Invercargill and Bluff. Police uncovered 46 cannabis plants, 150 ounces (4.25kg) of premium cannabis head, cannabis oil, approximately $25,000 in cash, and MDMA.
Those arrested now face multiple charges, including offering to supply LSD and ecstasy, possession of cannabis for supply, offering to supply cannabis, possession of cannabis oil, cultivation of cannabis, and non-compliance with computer search obligations. They have been released on bail and are scheduled to appear in the Invercargill District Court.
“Police continue to target those who supply these drugs, which have the potential to cause extreme harm and damage in our communities,” Baird added. He urged the public to report any information on drug suppliers to the Police on 105 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.
