Gore Police have successfully apprehended a man in the Gore area, who was allegedly in possession of a firearm. The individual, identified as a patched Mongrel Mob member, was reported to have been carrying a firearm, prompting an immediate police response.
Acting Senior Sergeant Mike Ungerer, Area Response Manager, detailed the efforts of the police in securing the arrest and ensuring the safety of the community. “Police are committing to preventing potential harm in our community and will act fast to ensure the community is safe,” he stated.
The operation led to the recovery of both the firearm and ammunition. The police were able to locate and arrest the offender without any incidents, underscoring the effectiveness of their response.
“As a result, we have one less firearm in the hands of someone who has no business having one,” Acting Senior Sergeant Ungerer added, highlighting the significance of the arrest in maintaining public safety.
The 31-year-old suspect is set to face legal proceedings, with a scheduled appearance at the Gore District Court today. He has been charged with unlawful possession of a pistol and unlawful possession of ammunition, reflecting the serious nature of the offences.
