Local Police have been made aware of three burglaries overnight across Te Anau, as well as one vehicle break-in. A number of boats in driveways have also been broken into.
Items targeted have mainly been fuel, recreational fishing gear and tools.
We ask that the community be vigilant – keep your doors locked and secured, including sheds and garages.
Checking locks on doors and windows, talking to their neighbours, and perhaps think about investing in an alarm are effective prevention measures. Labelling property (photographing jewellery and items of value and marking/engraving with identifying details) is also recommended to assist in identifying property located.echo adrotate_group(4, array("fallback" => 0, "weight" => 0, "site" => "no"));
It is important to report anything concerning or suspicious, even if you think it is ‘not worth it’ or that Police can do nothing,
We ask that anyone who has CCTV footage at their properties check this and let us know if they spot any suspicious behaviour, particularly between last night and this morning.
People should also be wary of items such as tools listed on local buy, swap, sell pages as these can often have been stolen .
Anyone with information can contact their local police station or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
