Open the fridge at home or at work, how many 1 litre containers of milk are there? One, two, more?
Imagine opening your fridge to find 13 million, yes million litres of milk, each day! That’s the amount of white gold that is being processed each day now at Fonterra’s Edendale processing plant. That’s a lot of milk!
Fonterra told whatsoninvers that it’s now peak processing time at the Edendale plant.
A Fonterra spokesperson says 650 Southlander’s are employed to get the milk in from the farms around Southland and process it into a huge variety of the finest dairy products that are exported all over the world.
Dairy products produced at Edendale include cheese, casein and milk powders.
65 big rig tankers travel the highways and byways of Southland each day (and night) collecting the milk, keep it in the freshest possible condition and transport it to the massive Edendale plant.
All this generates millions and millions of dollars for our dairy farmers, their staff, the allied industries and of course the staff at Edendale who work all hours 7 days a week.
