The Invercargill City Council has been awarded the 2016 Project of the Year Award for moving its Land Information Memorandum (LIM) from a paper based to electronic system.

The awarded was presented at the annual Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) Information Management/Records Symposium held in Wellington last Council’s Director of Environment and Planning Services, Pamela Gare, and Records Team

Leader, Cheryl Anderson, were present at the symposium to accept the award.

Ms Anderson said multiple departments in Council had worked on the system and it was completed entirely by Council staff, no consultants were hired and several people up skilled to contribute.

“The new LIM system changes the way we process the reports. Now we scan the property file and it is monitored through electronic tasks, rather than staff manually following through with a single hard copy file. We can have concurrent authors and we can monitor who has done their bit. We’ve been using the new process for about a year and it has saved so much “We were told about three weeks ago we were one of three finalists for the Award. We were required to present on our project and then the judges deliberated on them and announced us as the winner last night,” Ms Anderson said.
