Oreti Park Speedway riders impressed at the NZ Short Track Nationals stages at Moore Park Speedway today.

In the sidecar event, Aiden Thwaites and Shane Twiss performed solidly throughout to earn second overall behind the North Island pairing of Dave Gannon and Daryl Pearce.

The duo also accumulated enough points to bring the Canterbury Sidecar Championship title South.

Oreti’s James Douglas and Harley Biddle claimed third ahead of Paul Humphrey and Ricky Pubben.

To even feature in the final was a feat in itself for Humphrey and Pubben after a mammoth all-night mission to get a new motor up from Invercargill and transplanted into their 78i machine.

Continuing his remarkable form in his debut season as a senior rider, Sam Taylor placed third overall in the Solo A category, behind Moore Park’s Andy Aldridge and George Congreve.

In the junior ranks, Cormac Buchanan secured his second title for the weekend, adding the national 125cc trophy to his collection. It was an all-Oreti podium with Dakota Crengle and Mason Coulthard second and third respectively. In the peewee division, Sam Coulthard won the division two title, with Slade Fordyce third overall.
