One Dead After Car Explosion In Queenstown

A strong police presence in Queenstown suburb Kelvin Heights after a person was killed in a car explosion in a Jardine park Tuesday evening.

What we know:

• Emergency services received calls regarding a car explosion in Jardine Park around 9pm.
• Fire Service confirm receiving a number of calls about the car explosion & the car was well-ablaze when they arrived.
• The blaze has since been put out.
• Police confirmed a person has died at the scene.
• A cordon set up at the intersection of SH6 & Peninsula Rd, about 7km from the park, with armed policeman at the cordon.

The Fire Service said a fire investigator would be at the scene tomorrow.
