10:44am UPDATE: SH 6 Queenstown to Lumsden – Crash – Delays – ROAD OPEN – The road is now open to one lane at the intersection of Allandale Road. Stop / Go traffic management is in place. Road users are advised to expect significant delays.
One person has died in a serious collision between a car and a bus with 10 people on board in Southland.
Police said the crash occurred at about 7.20am on State Highway 6 in Kingston, north of Otago.echo adrotate_group(4, array("fallback" => 0, "weight" => 0, "site" => "no"));
A St John Ambulance spokesperson initially said one person had been seriously injured and was scheduled to be airlifted to hospital. Police subsequently confirmed a crash victim had since died.
Three other people were moderately injured, and five people had minor injuries.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area while emergency services attend the scene.
