Invercargill has become Volleyball Central with 2000 players converging on the South for a week-long competition and exhibition matches, including New Zealand’s top players.

Both indoor and Beach volleyball was currently underway at both ILT Stadium Southland and the new outdoor courts at the Otepuni Community Hub.

ILT Stadium Southland was currently hosting 82 teams and 164 kids with the indoor volleyball, and Friday and Saturday from 3pm until 8pm they will be out on the sand.

Volleyball Southland chair Donna Milne said the public was most welcome to come down and watch as the 2020 South Island Junior Secondary Schools Indoor and Beach Volleyball championships would be on all week.

Then this weekend it gets even more interesting, with Members of the New Zealand ‘Beach Blacks’ including Mike Watson, part of the King & Queen of the Court Exhibition Games being played at Cargo Brewery at Waitiri Creek, Gibbston Valley.

The players will be hosting an under-19 development camp on Friday and Saturday, and this weekend the Southland Beach Open will get underway downtown.
