The NAPA Auto Parts New Zealand Super Truck Championship pays its annual visit to Teretonga Park in Invercargill over the weekend of 16/17 March with a lot of interest as to whether Upper Hutt driver Alex Little can win the Mobil Delvac 1 Trophy for the sixth time.
Little first won the trophy in 2018 and has won it every year since, apart from 2020 when the event was cancelled due to the nationwide lockdown. The trophy is awarded to the driver that wins the round each time the championship visits Teretonga Park.
Last year, Little, driving his Freightliner 3 Series won the first race of the round, sponsored locally by Kings House Removals, and went on to record a third and a second placing to secure the top step of the podium. He also set a new lap record of 1 minute 14.266 seconds during the weekend. Second for the round was Timaru driver Brent Bones Collins in a similar Freightliner while Troy Wheeler of Hicks Bay was third.
Joining the NZ Super Trucks on the programme are another big favourite, the Mobil 1 Mainland Muscle Cars, along with a great range of different classes including Pre 65 Saloons, NZ 6 Saloons, the MX5 Heritage Cup, the Historic Vintage Racing Association and Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons with the annual 1 Hour Race included amongst the action.
Presale tickets are available now from Auto Centre, Tweed Street, Invercargill, E Hayes & Sons, Dee Street, Invercargill and Harrisons Supplies, Mersey Street in Gore.
Presale tickets are just $40 plus any applicable charges while a weekend pass at the gate over the weekend of the event is $50. A single day pass for either Saturday or Sunday is $30 per day while children 14 & under are free throughout the event as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
