Southerners are in for a treat when Round 5 of the Repco NextGen NZ Championship comes to Teretonga Park in Invercargill over the weekend of 1st & 2nd February.

The Ascot Park Hotel Teretonga Park International will host top-class international drivers as the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship (CTFROC) returns for the first time since 2023. The event features a fantastic support program, including:

  • Bridgestone GR86 Championship
  • Summerset GT New Zealand Championship
  • Nexen Tyre NZ Mazda Racing Series
  • Pirelli Porsches

The CTFROC grid will showcase 17 drivers, including some of New Zealand’s top talent competing against rising stars from around the globe. In past events, Southlanders witnessed future Formula 1 stars like Lando Norris, Liam Lawson, Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda, and Franco Colapinto, among others.

Excitingly, local driver Alex Crosbie will participate as he takes on the series for the second time. After finishing fifth overall last season in his rookie campaign, Crosbie has been racing successfully in the US. He is part of a strong Kiwi contingent facing competitors from Australia, the United States, Canada, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Peru.

One standout international driver is Arvid Lindblad of the UK, a Red Bull F1 Team Junior. At just 17 years old, Lindblad has already found success in Italian F4, F4 UAE, and placed fourth in the FIA Formula F3 Championship in 2024. He also won the F4 races at the Macau Grand Prix in 2023, arriving in New Zealand with strong form.

The Bridgestone GR86 Championship features New Zealand’s best young talent, alongside Australian competitors and experienced drivers, all racing in identical Toyota GR86s. Expect intense competition and varied podium results throughout the weekend.

The Summerset GT New Zealand Championship brings luxury brands such as BMW, Ginetta, McLaren, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Toyota, and Ferrari to the track for spectacular races.

The Nexen Tyre NZ Mazda Racing Series promises close, hard-fought racing, while the Pirelli Porsche field ensures a thrilling weekend of action.
