An indoor golf simulator business in Invercargill has opened its doors three weeks ago has been very popular, and already has a string of members signed up.

Prime Golf on Dee Street is powered by ‘Trackman,’ giving players an accurate analysis of their performance and swing, and offers 65 different courses around the world to play on.

Started by local businessmen and golf enthusiasts Hayden Sprout, Steve Jo and Tony Mennell, the business features four state-of-the-art golf simulator bays on licensed premises, making it the perfect spot for a Christmas party.

The simulator bays feature a screen projection of a course, with the golfer monitored by TrackMan’s AI analysis — a device that uses Doppler radar to monitor the launch of a golf ball.

Members have 24/7 access to the facility, as well as entry to tournaments and leagues – already there is one in the pipeline against a club in Queenstown that is also Trackman-powered.

Manager Josh McKay said the majority of new members have been passionate golfers, but it’s also a great place to learn how to play the game.

“Because you are not losing or searching for your ball in the bushes,” he said.

The facility is also set up for children, with a range of golf clubs available, and the business is in talks with golf pros to have them come along to give some tips and lessons. As well as catering for Christmas parties and other work functions, Prime Golf has teed up with local restaurants to provide food, making it a great place to unwind and have fun.

“Our facility not only provides world renown golf courses but also interactive games for all age regardless of golf experience. We have 65 courses but we have 100+ courses including St Andrew’s and Pebble beach available, plus 3 new courses added every month.

Our aim is to help grow the golf population and introduce and promote our amazing local golf courses in Southland.”
