Following the retirement as Trustee of Mata Cherrington, Bill Moran has been appointed as the new Chair of Community Trust South. Mata Cherrington resigned as a Trustee in order to pursue her new role as the Interim Regional Director for Te Aka Whai Ora the Māori Health Authority.
Mata Cherrington says, “It has been an honour to serve my community, first as a Trustee and as the Trust’s Chair for the last year. The last 7 years as a Trustee has given me the opportunity to witness the amazing work that our communities in Murihiku are carrying out every day. It has been a delight to support community led initiatives and promoting the Trust’s mahi.”
Appointed as a Trustee in June 2016 Bill is based in Queenstown and has served as Heamana Tuarua/Deputy Chair since November 2020 and is a former Deputy Secretary at the Treasury and has extensive governance experience including as Chair of both Sport NZ and High-Performance Sport NZ.
Kirsty Pickett, who was appointed as a Trustee in September 2020, has been confirmed as the Deputy Chair and is a company director and award-winning journalist, based in Te Anau.
The positions of Chairman and deputy are elected by the Trustees on a two-yearly basis.
