The Southland Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheree Carey as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ms Carey will take the reins from Sarah Hannan, who resigned as CEO in December 2015 to take up a co-director role in the Southland Regional Development Strategy.

The Chamber Board extend their utmost thanks and appreciation to Miriam Erikson, who took on the role of General Manager of the Chamber in the interim since January. President Carla Forbes noted that Miriam’s contribution to the Chamber was outstanding and they are excited that she will be staying on with the Chamber in the future. “Miriam demonstrated skilled management and ensured that the Chamber functioned smoothly and productively through what has been a busy start to the year.”
Of the new appointment Ms Forbes commented, “I am delighted welcome Sheree to the Executive. She brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for promoting business activity in Southland. The Board is excited about the next phase and continuing to build engagement with the community, with Sheree at the helm.”
Ms Carey says she is enthusiastic about the opportunity to utilize her skills and networks to promote the Chamber and support its members. In particular, she is looking forward to working alongside the SoRDS team and assist with their goals to benefit the wider Southland community.
