Police can now release the name of the man killed in a crash on SH94, Milford Highway, Te Anau around 12:42am on March 1.
Police extend our sympathies to his family and friends.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
He was 35-year-old David William Gray of Te Anau.

GRAY, David William (Dave):
As a result of a tragic accident on Wednesday 28 February 2018; aged 35 years. Much loved hero and fiancé of Heather Naylor. Dedicated and idolised dad of Oscar and Elsie. Much loved son of Russell and Liz (Blackmount). Loved brother and brother-in-law of Jeremy and Kate; Hannah; and Mark. Loved uncle of Hugo, Boe, and Jake. Respected and admired by all of Heather’s family in England. Dave will be resting at Russell and Liz’s holiday home at 6 Dalhousie Place, Te Anau from Wednesday, until his service to celebrate his life on Friday 9 March at 1.30pm to be held in the Te Anau Club, corner Pop Andrew Drive and Jackson Street.
