MotorKhana – The Easy & Fun Way To Try Motorsport
The Southland Sports Car Club is keen to encourage anyone that is interested to come and try one of their Motorkhana events this season. Anyone 12 years of age and over can participate in a motorkhana which is a form of entry level motorsport which improves driving skills in a fun, safe environment.
Motorkhana involves tight courses around cones that particularly suits small, nimble cars. Competitors tackle three different challenges and get three runs at each of them. The Motorkhana’s form part of the club’s Evolution Motorsport Clubsport Championship.
You do not need a drivers licence and you can enter in your own car which must be of Warrant Of Fitness Standard or you can use the Evolution Motorsport Clubsport Toyota Levin, a car provided for you to have a go. You can share a car so multiple people can use the same vehicle.
There are six events throughout the season and you can enter as few or as many as you wish. Entry fee each time for a Motorkhana is $20 and just an extra $20 for the Evolution Motorsport Toyota.
New competitors are most welcome and those who are not club members are able to contest two events to decide if they wish to continue before joining the Southland Sports Car Club. Ladies are most welcome and do very well at the sport.
Clubsport is a cheap sport, with a fun and welcoming environment with competitors more than happy to help one another. Many competitors become involved in other motorsport while others are happy to just continue to enjoy the fun of motorkhana’s and other clubsport disciplines.
Several new competitors gave it go last season and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
