We release our inner child and take a fun look through Young Reflections on Tay Street! It should be your one stop children’s shop as it’s packed full of educational books, games, toys, puzzles and more…

Owner Joy Brown started Young Reflections 22 years ago from a little shop in the old 55 Arcade on Dee street, moved to Tay street in 1989 and last year moved further along to 13 Tay Street.
Their stock is in high demand as they supply schools across the South Island with various teacher aid materials. These can also be purchased in store by parents wanting to boost their child’s education.

It’s a large bright store full of toys, gifts, games and educational tools plus a large table with latest specials and bargains.

Inside you will find plenty of old school toys like board games and puzzles for all ages. Brain teasers and puzzles are always popular gifts for Dad’s around Father’s Day, Christmas and Birthdays.

After a little drop off a year or two back due to digital devices theres been a noticeable resurgence in parents wanting good old fashioned books and board games for their child’s learning.

Books are nicely laid out in ages with all the new popular books and all time favourites like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Soft toys and hand puppets including these famous Seasame Street characters Ernie & Bert, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and not to forget Elmo.

Still popular with the boys are the German made Bruder trucks.

Hama beads are a huge seller and Young Reflections are the only stockist in Otago/Southland.

Dress ups fairies for the girls and super heroes for the boys.

There’s a play area for the wee ones so Mum or Dad can focus on selecting their purchases.

Who took their kids to Peppa Pig at the Civic Theatre? Books, stationary & art sets now in store.

Who dreads wrapping presents and gifts?
Great news Young Reflections offer FREE yes FREE wrapping on your purchases and have a great range very special gift wrapping paper.
Just ask one of the knowledgeable Young Reflections team Joy, Bronwyn and Jo for details.
Also Young Reflections have a great range of under $10 and under $20 gifts for birthday parties.

This year a new website was launched and with over 500 items with more being added weekly, so you can let you fingers do the walking if you are out of town, Joy said we’ve been selling books, toys and games to people all over NZ especially the more traditional educational toys that are hard to get and not available in the big chains anymore. There’s even been orders from Sydney and Japan…. which surprised me.
